In the beginning God supplied mankind with a cholestoral-free, plant based diet (fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains). The One who made mankind is the same One who knows how to maintain mankind. For example, when you buy a Ford car, the manufacturer will also provide vehicle guidance on how to maintain your Ford car. In the same way, who is best at knowing how to maintain the human “engine” other than the Creator of our human bodies ?
In Genesis 1:29, before sin, the Lord provided Adam and Eve with the perfect diet to help maintain perfect health – “Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” In addition, God gave the first human pair 7 other health principles under His NEW START health program.
Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator. These foods, prepared in as simple and natural manner as possible, are the most healthful and nourishing. They impart a strength, a power of endurance, and a vigour of intellect, that are not afforded by a more complex and stimulating diet.
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31). Can we live according to God’s Holy Law by disregarding the items of food and drink that we place in our bodily temples? By the inspiration of the Spirit of God, Paul the apostle writes that “whatsoever ye do”, even the natural act of eating and drinking, should be done, not to gratify a perverted appetite, but under a sense of responsibility, – “do all to the glory of God.”
Every part of the man is to be guarded; we are to beware lest that which is taken into the stomach shall banish from the mind high and holy thoughts. Our very bodies are not our own, to treat as we please, to cripple by habits that lead to decay, making it impossible to render to God perfect service. The words “Ye are not your own, ye are bought with a price” should be hung in memory’s hall, that we may ever recognise God’s rights to our talents, our property, our influence, our individual selves. We are to learn how to treat this gift of God, in mind, in soul, in body, that as Christ’s purchased possession, we may do him healthful, savoury service.
In contrast to a healthy diet, God has warned mankind from the beginning to avoid those food items that are likely to contribute toward disease and death. The general principles may be read in Leviticus chapter 11. However, of the unclean foods, mankind would especially benefit by avoiding the consumption of pig meat. Notice God’s word in chapter 11 of Leviticus:
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. 3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat. 4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. 5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. 6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you. 7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. 8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.
Pork is a very popular food due to the sweet taste. It is a cherished dish worldwide. However, are you aware of the following 5 reasons why pork meat should be avoided in order to preserve good health ?
1. God said don’t eat pig. If mankind was obedient to God’s Word, many of the health problems in the world today would cease. “And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. 8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you. ” (Leviticus 11:7 & 8).
2. Trichinosis – “Trichinosis or trichiniasis, is a parasitic disease caused by eating raw or undercooked pork or wild game infected with the larvae of a species of roundworm Trichinella spiralis, commonly called the trichina worm.” See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichinosis. What are the signs and symptoms ? Nausea, heartburn, dyspepsia, diarrhea, edema, muscle pain, fever, weakness, swelling around the eyes and respiratory paralysis. 3. Cysticercosis – Cysticercosis is a tissue infection caused by the young form of the pork tapeworm. Solid lumps of between one and two centimetres may develop under the skin. A specific form called neurocysticercosis which affects the brain can give neurological symptoms. In developing countries this is one of the most common causes of seizures. Muscles – Cysticerci can develop in any voluntary muscles in humans. Invasion of muscle by cysticerci can cause myositis, with fever, eosinophilia, and muscular pseudohypertrophy, which initiates with muscle swelling and later progress to atrophy and fibrosis.
Nervous system – The term neurocysticercosis is generally accepted to refer to cysts in the parenchyma of the brain. It presents with seizures and, less commonly, headaches.[10] Cysticerca in brain parenchyma are usually 5–20 mm in diameter.
Eyes – In some cases, cysticerci may be found in the globe, extraocular muscles, and under the conjunctiva (subconjunctiva). Depending on the location, they may cause visual difficulties that fluctuate with eye position, retinal edema, hemorrhage, a decreased vision or even a visual loss.
Skin – Subcutaneous cysts are in the form of firm, mobile nodules, occurring mainly on the trunk and extremities.
